How It Works
Postbox Courier provides express courier services to and from South Africa. We have depots located in the US, the UK, Hong Kong and South Africa from where we receive and consolidate shipments and then forward to the appropriate destination depot for final delivery. Our operation in Johannesburg similarly acts as our receiving hub for exports from South Africa to the rest of the world. It's a courier service run by South Africans, for local and expats living abroad who have a need to get goods to and from South Africa
To use our services, the first thing you have to do is register on our home page. It's FREE, quick and easy - just provide us with your name and your email, tell us what country you live in and hit 'Sign up Now.'
You'll receive an email with a link to activate your account. Click the link. Congrats! You now have an active account and can start shipping.
How you use the service depends on where you are. Please click on one of the following statements for detailed instructions on how it works for you.
I live in South Africa and want to import from abroad.
- Log in to view your Personal Postbox addresses
- Go shopping on overseas websites and have your goods delivered to your new address. If you shop in America, deliver to your New York address. If you shop in the UK or any EU countries, deliver to your UK address. China, Hong Kong, Japan etc. should go to your Hong Kong address.
- Give us a heads up about goods that are on their way to your address by submitting a Parcel Pre-Alert. Click the 'Import to SA' option and tell us what the goods are and provide the final delivery address. Each parcel that is delivered to us requires its own Pre-Alert. For example, if your order is being delivered in 3 parts, you should submit 3 pre-alerts.
- Let us know if you want orders to be combined or sent separately. To combine orders just tick the relevant bookings that you want shipped together and click 'GroupShip.' For single shipments you tick the relevant box and click 'SoloShip.' You can also remove a parcel from a group by ticking the corresponding box and clicking 'SoloShip.'
- Await confirmation from us that your complete order has been received, then log in to your Parcel Manager to make payment and we’ll fly your order over on the next flight.
I live in South Africa and want to send something abroad.
- Log in to your Parcel Manager and click the Parcel Pre-Alert
- Select the 'Export from SA' option and complete the form that follows.
- We can arrange to collect the parcel from you, or you can drop it off at a local drop box. Further information will be emailed to you on confirmation of your booking.
- Let us know your preferred method (collection or drop off) and we'll email the appropriate label to attach to your parcel.
- Once the parcel reaches our JNB hub, we'll invite you to log in and pay for shipping and export the goods when you respond.
I live abroad and want to send goods to South Africa.
- Log in to view your Personal Postbox address.
- Send your parcel to the Postbox depot in your country, addressed to yourself.
- Notify us of the impending arrival using your Parcel Manager. Click on Parcel Pre-Alert and then select the 'Export to SA' option.
- We give you the option of delivering to a physical address (home or work) or to a Pargo Parcel Point near the receiver. This allows the receiver to collect their item from a nearby location at a time that is convenient for them.
- We'll notify you when we receive your parcel and invite you to log in and pay for shipping and send your goods to South Africa when you respond.
I live abroad and want to import from South Africa.
- Log in to view your South African Postbox address.
- Shop on your favourite SA sites and have the vendor deliver your goods to your South African Postbox address.
- Give us a heads up about goods that are on their way to your address by submitting a Parcel Pre-Alert. Click the 'Import from SA' option and tell us what the goods are and provide the final delivery address. Each parcel that is delivered to us requires its own Pre-Alert. For example, if your order is being delivered in 3 parts, you should submit 3 pre-alerts.
